TCU Supports – ATU President Asks for Help for Striking Workers at Transdev

ATU Local 689 is engaged in what is now a 16-day strike at a recently privatized WMATA Metrobus garage in Lorton, Virginia. Transdev, a French multinational contractor, now operates the garage. No workers have left the picket line to return to work and Transdev, desperate for cash, will go to great lengths to break the strike and preserve their revenue agreement with WMATA.

President Costa is asking for specific help to make sure that Transdev cannot bring in scabs, especially among workers or retirees who may not know they are being recruited to become strikebreakers. If your union represents workers employed by Transdev, or in similar transportation jobs, please communicate with your locals to ensure they are aware of Transdev’s tactics. If workers are being recruited to Northern Virginia to operate, maintain, clean or otherwise service buses, it is to break this strike.
