Spouse Eligibility Audit is Now in Progress Under the Railroad Employees National Health and Welfare Plan

The spouse eligibility audit is now in progress under the Railroad Employees National Health and Welfare Plan, which commenced on January 1, 2020.

As of January 22, 2020 Railroad Enrollment Services has not received verification of eligibility for 68,935 spouses.

Every married employee must verify that their existing spouse currently meets the eligibility requirements by providing specific proof of the continued marriage.

Employees who fail to respond with the required proof of marriage by the deadline, their spouse on record will lose coverage under all railroad insurance plans, including Medical, Dental and Vision. Cancellation of coverage will begin shortly after the March 31, 2020 deadline.

It is very important for all married participants with spouses on record to return the audit materials immediately.

All TCU members should be aware of the audit and the importance of a timely response. Any member who has not received the audit materials by now should immediately contact the Railroad Enrollment’s toll-free help line at 1-800-753-2692. Members who have received the materials but have questions on how to respond, what documents are acceptable, etc., should call the same number.
