ONE WEEK REMAINING TO VOTE ON NATIONAL FREIGHT AGREEMENT

Ratification is now underway for all Carmen and clerical members working under the National Freight Agreement. Members should have already received the voting instructions and material access to all the agreement related documents. Voting will continue through September 14 at 3:00 pm EST. Following the recommendations of PEB 250, TCU/IAM and the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen reached a tentative agreement with the National Carrier’s Conference Committee (NCCC) which ensures that our members receive the record wage increases with full back pay, employee recognition bonuses and additional paid day off while maintaining our platinum level health insurance benefits.

Currently there are five (5) unions who have reached identical tentative agreements with NCCC. The remaining unions continue to meet with the NCCC to address the various craft specific proposal they presented at the PEB. TCU/IAM members can be assured that if there was any possibility for reaching a better contract for our members we would still be at the bargaining table. We are confident, however, that this TA provides the very best terms possible for our members and that our members should have the opportunity to vote on their contract.

“After three years with no raise we were finally able to reach an agreement that achieves a cost benefit of 62% more than the carriers were offering and more than 70% of our demands made at the PEB . This agreement provides record wage increases, secures our fantastic healthcare and provides an extra day of paid leave. There is nothing that suggest allowing congress to control our fate will provide any benefit to our members. I am confident this agreement is worthy of our members’ support and I am encouraging our members to ratify the agreement”. – TCU National President Maratea
