July 30, 2024 – The Amtrak Service Workers Council (ASWC) Bargaining Committee recently reached a new Tentative Agreement for all ASWC members. The ASWC represents all Amtrak on-board service workers and is made up of TCU, TWU, and Unite-HERE. TCU is part of a council of three (3) unions that ratified the agreement. The TA was overwhelmingly ratified by TCU members at 91%.
The TA provides historic wage increases totaling 30% (34.12% compounded). This is among the highest general wage increases ever achieved in one contract at Amtrak.
“This is a historic agreement. I am so proud of our negotiators for getting this agreement. NST Kocialski, NR Canter, and NR Jackson really put in the hard work to provide this historic contract for our members,” said TCU National President Maratea.
In terms of healthcare, there are no increases to monthly cost share, and significant improvements were made to the plan effective January 1, 2025, regarding specialty drug copays, hearing benefits, and more. Additionally, the Agreement achieves needed work rule changes and ten (10) weeks of paid parental leave.
Also, employees in active service, as of March 1, 2020, will receive a Service Recognition Bonus of $2,000.
“This agreement not only provides a historic wage increase but also much-needed rule changes to benefit our members. I’d like to thank all of the members of the negotiating team, including TWU, Unite-HERE, and TCU National Representatives Canter and Jackson, who came together to score an outstanding contract for our members,” said National Secretary-Treasurer Greg Kocialski, the lead negotiator for TCU.
