A recent letter sent from TCU President Bob Scardelletti spells out the April 2016 announcement from the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) regarding changes in their local Board field office hours.
As a result of workforce reductions and increased workloads in several key areas, beginning June 1, 2016, the Board’s 53 field offices nationwide will be closed to the public every Wednesday at noon. As such, field office representatives will not be available to assist walk-in customers nor take telephone calls after noon on Wednesdays. The changes in hours only apply to Wednesday when offices will be open from 9 am-12:00 pm (noon). Field offices will remain open on other workdays from 9 am – 3: 30pm.
Members may continue to utilize the “Benefit Online Services” section of the Board’s website at www.rrb.gov for many services. For example, members may apply for and claim unemployment benefits, file sickness benefits claims, request an annuity estimate, and more as set out in the attachment.
Please remind your members covered under the Railway Labor Act that effective June 1, 2016, all the Board’s field offices, including their toll-free number at 1-877-772-5772, will only be open from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. every Wednesday. The usual hours of business will stay the same, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on remaining workdays, with the exception of Federal Holiday closures.
