Walt Barrows, the current labor member on the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), announced earlier this year that he would like to retire from the Board. John Bragg, currently a Vice President with the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen (BRS) has expressed an interest in replacing Walt as the Labor Member.
John has the support of the rail unions including TCU, he would make an excellent Board member. The rail unions have drafted a letter to the President formally endorsing John.
The letter states, “as the Labor Member, Mr. Bragg will bring an invaluable level of experience, knowledge, and understanding of the needs of rail workers, retirees, and their families who rely on the system.”
“For these reasons, we strongly recommend you nominate Johnathan D. Bragg to serve as the Labor Member of the RRB as you work to ensure the agency’s full board member capacity.”
