July 1, 2008—In Chicago, Gail Hampton has been a member of the union for 20 years, first in District 2509 and now Local 2500. An Amtrak employee, she learned recently that the union would help her out in troubled times: following a fire at her home, she was presented with a check from TCU’s Disaster Relief Fund.
