In a recent vote in the U.S. Senate they extended transportation funding for 90 days. The extension came at the last moment to ensure that funding for transportation projects would remain while the House and senate struggle toagree on a full transportation bill. The extension came two days before a deadline that could have shutdown highway and transit projects across the nation and leaves transportation financing in an increasingly precarious position.
“TCU hopes that both houses of Congress can come together and create a transportation funding plan that will truly support the hard working men and women in the transportation industry’” said TCU President Bob Scardelletti. “The house and Senate versions are so far apart that they will never agree, our hope is that the Senate version will be used as a starting point to get funding that will help our members maintain their jobs and livelihoods.”
