President Obama spoke to the AFL-CIO Executive Council by electronic means and made it clear that he intends to pass the Employee Free Choice Act. His comments are reassuring particularly in the wake of efforts by opponents to try to put the measure on the back burner. In his remarks President Obama promised that labor would have a place at the table, “as we confront this crisis and work to provide health care to every American, rebuild our nation’s infrastructure, move toward a clean energy economy, and pass the Employee Free Choice Act.”
The act is being hotly contested and the support by this administration will help to get this legislation passed. Corporate America is working feverishly to thwart this bill; all support to help pass this bill is needed immediately.
