NMB Members Confirmed by Senate December 9, 2006
The Senate confirmed the appointment of two members of the National Mediation Board on December 9, 2006.
Elizabeth Dougherty joins the Board December 13 as a new member. She will finish the term of outgoing member and chairman Edward J. Fitzmaurice, Jr, through June 30, 2007, and then will serve a full three-year term expiring July 1, 2010. She will assume the position of Chairman of the Board. An attorney, Dougherty most recently has been Special Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy at the White House, covering labor and transportation issues.
Harry R. Hoglander returns to the Board for a second term. A member since August 6, 2002, he served as Chairman from July 1, 2004, through June 30, 2005. Before serving on the Board, Hoglander was a legislative specialist to a member of the House of Representatives. A pilot, he was for six years a labor representative to the U.S. Aviation Bi-Lateral Delegation. He previously had served as Master Chairman of the TWA Master Executive Council, Executive Vice President of the Air Line Pilots Association, and a Captain for Trans World Airlines.
Remaining as the third member of the Board is Read Van de Water. She and the others were all nominated by President George W. Bush.
