Thirty local Chairmen and Protective Committee members from several locals within units 86, 167 and 500 attended grievance handling classes recently in New York City. Both supervisors and clerks from Metro-North, Long Island, and Staten Island railroads as well as Amtrak participated in the 1 day training, set up by TCU International Representative Artie Maratea and instructed by TCU Executive Director of Industry Relations Debbie Horrell with the help of TCU Research Assistant Allison Parker.
The focus of the training was to learn how to write grievances. With emphasis on what it takes to make a claim successful; what needs to be included in the claim, the proper way to format the claim and the evidence needed to support the claim.
All attendees received a TCU claim form that can be used by the membership to submit claims to their Local Chairman or Committee Member.
