The IAM announced today that effective May 1, 2022 it will launch the establishment of a new Rail Division. TCU/IAM will join IAM District 19 as charter members of this division. Together, TCU and District 19 represent tens of thousands of railroad workers throughout the United States.
This division will strengthen the presence of TCU and IAM on our properties and at the bargaining tables where we represent our members. In addition, it paves the way for us to continue to work together to grow our membership.
District 19 General Chairman Josh Hartford is being appointed to the position of Special Assistant to the President and will lead the Rail Division.
“This has been a long time coming and it is good to finally see this come to fruition. The Rail Division is another fantastic result of the historic merger between our great unions. Having both of our strong unions continuing to work together to ensure our representatives have all the resources necessary to provide the very best representation is great news for our members.” said TCU National President Artie Maratea.
“I am thankful to President Martinez for seeing this through. I also want to thank General Vice President Rich Johnsen whose leadership was instrumental in making this possible. TCU is excited to have Brother Hartford leading the Rail Division. He has our full support and we look forward to working with him in his new capacity”.
